The Sacro Wedgy
The Sacro Wedgy® is an innovative tool designed to elevate and isolate the sacrum (commonly known as the tailbone) while leveraging gravity to promote relaxation, alignment, and balance from the hips outward. Our understanding reveals that humans are fundamentally beings of balance—whether it be chemical, emotional, or physical. What we offer is a mechanism and methodology to foster improved muscle equilibrium, which is why numerous therapists incorporate this tool into their practices. It's remarkable how much discomfort dissipates when we achieve a state of "balance" and "relaxation."
One key muscle, the piriformis, has its broad end anchored to the front of the sacrum and its narrow end connected to the hip. When gravity acts and the hips loosen, the piriformis is afforded the opportunity to elongate.
For some individuals, this can be quite uncomfortable, necessitating even deeper relaxation. The sciatic nerve runs alongside this muscle, which explains the relief many experience from sciatica through its use. Furthermore, the piriformis is often implicated as the starting point for a cascade of misalignments, what we refer to as a "snowball" effect.
The Sacro Wedgy® is available in both male and female versions, tailored to accommodate the distinct shapes of the sacrum. Generally, the female sacrum is wider and shorter due to the birth canal, in contrast to the longer and narrower male sacrum.
This design distinction clarifies why some taller women or those with longer, slimmer torsos find the male version to be more effective for their needs.
